Lord David Wolfson, a prominent Jewish barrister, has been appointed as Kemi Badenoch’s new shadow attorney general. Wolfson, who previously served as justice minister in the House of Lords under Boris Johnson before resigning due to the partygate scandal, replaces Victoria Prentis in the role.

Wolfson, a long-time congregant at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue and a vocal supporter of Israel brings extensive legal experience to the position. He has spent over three decades as a barrister, specializing in complex banking and commercial disputes.

Confirming his new role, Wolfson expressed his honor at joining Badenoch’s shadow cabinet, stating on social media: “Honoured to take on the role as shadow Attorney General, working with Kemi Badenoch and her shadow cabinet, to ensure we hold the Government to account on matters of law and justice.”

In addition to his legal career, Wolfson was appointed an independent commissioner at the Football Regulatory Authority (FRA) two years ago, where he oversaw the implementation of VAR technology in football.
