A planning application has been submitted to build the new Beam Park railway station in east London, despite uncertainties over its formal approval. Located between Rainham and Dagenham Dock on the c2c line, the station promises quicker journeys to London Fenchurch Street.

However, the Department for Trade (DfT) has yet to approve the station due to concerns over its financial viability. The Greater London Authority (GLA) has offered to cover running costs for a decade after opening, supporting the housing development expected to serve up to 20,000 homes.

Studies are underway to assess the station’s impact on the timetable and passenger demand, with the second study delayed by a cyber attack on TfL. The GLA is working with Network Rail to ensure progress in the new year. If all goes well, the station could open in late 2026.
