In a sharp response to opposition leaders’ condemnation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, the Likud party issued a scathing rebuke, calling the critics hypocritical and dismissing their concerns.

Following a joint press conference where opposition figures Yair Lapid, Benny Gantz, Avigdor Liberman, and Yair Golan criticized Netanyahu’s decision, Likud struck back by questioning the opposition’s credibility. A Likud spokesperson accused the leaders of hypocrisy, pointing to their past alliances and actions. Specifically, the spokesman highlighted the opposition’s previous cooperation with the Ra’am party, labeling it a “Muslim Brotherhood party” and alleging that such alliances had compromised Israeli security by offering concessions to Hezbollah.

The statement also referenced previous derogatory remarks made by Liberman and Gantz about Gallant. Liberman had previously mocked Gallant, calling him a “threats minister,” while Gantz had called for Gallant’s resignation just two months ago. Likud seized on these inconsistencies, suggesting that the opposition’s sudden support for Gallant was politically motivated rather than driven by genuine concern.

Likud concluded the statement by affirming Netanyahu’s leadership and his ongoing security strategies, which they claimed were on track for success. “They will continue to complain, and we will continue to win,” the spokesman declared, signaling confidence in the current government’s approach despite the opposition’s criticism.
