A new direct bus route between Golders Green and Stamford Hill has been introduced after fifteen years of discussions and lobbying. The 310 bus route, which connects the two major Jewish communities in London, aims to enhance safety and convenience for residents by eliminating the need to change buses at Finsbury Park.

The service, which will operate for a one-year trial period, is a response to concerns about rising antisemitism. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan highlighted that the initiative is intended to address fears within the Jewish community about traveling safely.

Prior to the launch, residents had to transfer from the 210 bus to another route at Finsbury Park, a process that was perceived as inconvenient and unsafe. This new route is expected to simplify travel and improve security for those using public transport.

The decision to introduce the 310 route follows advocacy from the London Jewish Forum and other community leaders, particularly in light of recent incidents of antisemitism. In December, a violent assault on an Israeli man in Finsbury Park underscored the need for improved safety measures.

Transport for London (TfL) will collect data during the trial period to assess the route’s impact and usage. The new service has been welcomed by community members, including Rabbi Dovid Lichtig, who noted that the direct link is a significant improvement in travel safety and convenience.

TfL’s director of Public Transport Service Planning, Geoff Hobbs, emphasized the importance of public feedback to ensure the service meets community needs. The trial aims to increase public transport use and reduce reliance on cars in the area.
