Housing and Construction Minister Yitzchak Goldknopf has visited the Gaza border to assess areas for potential Jewish communities following the ongoing war with Hamas. Goldknopf shared a photo on social media alongside Daniella Weiss, head of the Nachala Movement, as they examined a map identifying possible sites for future communities in Gaza.
Goldknopf framed the initiative as a response to the violence committed by Hamas and a direct challenge to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which recently issued arrest warrants for Israeli officials. He criticized the ICC’s focus on legal actions rather than addressing the plight of the 101 hostages held by Hamas.
Although Goldknopf did not enter Gaza, he inspected the region from the border, using binoculars to survey potential locations. Weiss, who is spearheading efforts to establish new Jewish communities in northern Gaza, thanked Goldknopf for his involvement and support of the project.
Reports earlier this month suggested that IDF soldiers helped Weiss enter Gaza to survey areas for new Jewish communities. In a related speech, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich advocated for the occupation of Gaza and the forced emigration of half of the region’s Palestinian population within two years.
Goldknopf and other government officials continue to pursue plans for the long-term establishment of Jewish communities in Gaza, seeing it as part of broader territorial and security objectives.
