A 61-year-old man has been charged with murder after his sister, 57-year-old Margaret Cunningham, was found stabbed to death in south-east London. Police responded to multiple calls from locals who witnessed the attack in Surrey Quays, near Greenland Quay, shortly before 3 p.m. on Friday.

Officers arrived to find Margaret Cunningham with stab wounds. Despite efforts by paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance to save her, she later died in the hospital.

Andrew Cunningham, 61, was arrested in nearby Rotherhithe and charged with the murder of his sister. He is scheduled to appear in Croydon Magistrates Court today, December 2.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, leading the investigation, said authorities received multiple public calls expressing concern for the victim’s welfare.
