Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and the party’s new treasurer, Nick Candy, met with US billionaire Elon Musk at Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida on Monday. The hour-long meeting focused on Musk’s insights into Trump’s political operations, with the party expressing interest in continuing discussions on other areas, although no specifics were given.
The meeting has fueled speculation that Musk, a vocal supporter of Trump’s re-election campaign, may donate to Reform UK. While Farage has previously stated that Musk has not offered a donation, the possibility remains a topic of interest. Musk, a known critic of UK Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, has publicly supported Reform UK, even endorsing the idea of the party forming the next government.
Farage shared a photo from the meeting, showing himself, Musk, and Candy in front of a Trump portrait. Musk responded to Farage’s comment that “Britain needs Reform” with “Absolutely.” Reform UK thanked Trump for allowing the use of Mar-A-Lago, highlighting the strong UK-US ties.
Nick Candy, a former Conservative donor, has declined to discuss potential donations but acknowledged communications with Musk following his appointment as treasurer. Musk cannot personally donate to UK political campaigns as a US citizen, but reports suggest a donation could come through X’s British branch.
